If it's name is Ginger, why call it IT?:
theitquestion.com
Ginger Rogers was a sweet dancer and charming beauty: why replace Dean Kamen's name for his latest invention(?) with the feeble pronoun and lose it's metaphorical grandness?
After the commendable work with iBot, DEKA R/D's leader seems to have come up with a shock absorbing, transportation system for the rest of us. Perhaps even using some sort of electro-magnetic force. Excellent proposition, but will it fly? Maybe we'll know more when it's actually marketable, not just IT's book. Good enough.
Maybe the story here is simply the hype that THEY are able to stir up with IT. Is that the reason they call it IT, anyway? Does IT make more interest than it would if they just called IT Ginger? Is that the only reason he/she/it would have?
Or is the point that all this hype really shows how much we need some new invention that's really tangible, like the light bulb, flying machine, or metal spoon?
