2001 Intel Student Design Competition - http://www.artmuseum.net/isdc/index.html
This site showcases the great work done by student winners of the recent Intel Sponsored Student Design Competition. But don't let the name fool you: none attempted to redesign our favorite fixture: the student.
Actually, the theme was "Embodiment and Expression" and entrants (actual students!) were to design wearable or portable devices that take advantage of "shrinking size, cost and power consumption of new technologies." There's some nice, conceptual work here (and we so love off-the-edge conceptual products).
Our favorite is Topo.Opticon, the GPS for the urban meet-up-withs, second place winner. We also love the site itself, displaying well the winners, the entrants, their designs and teams.
So, go give it up for the students!
