We have been absent from these ridiculous forums (so much widespread potential ruined by shameful and useless dribble!) for a long while and from what has been posted, wanted to make it clear that we are not responsible for the hurtful and pointless comments directed at Karim Rashid (and others). This collective is baby stepping its way into a critical and inclusive position within the design world and do not require such shallow and thin support. We are in no way built as a vehicle for revenge or childish finger pointing. Concentrate on the construction of joy and forget about the backroom name calling.IP: Logged |

Given your "latebloom" show in milan, i was taken back by all the name calling on this posting board. A relief to hear that it is all just hot air from your lessers! Good luck with the groups future projects (Have you heard of Raw?). Thank you for keeping it real Latebloom, the design world needs more of the same.IP: Logged |

No kidding? I saw the stickers here but did not have a clue what the deal was. They said "good design" on white and "bad design" on black, with a Latebloom logo and "support your local designer" underneath. It was cool because they where stuck up outside the openings and you could tell if the show was worth seeing on not at all by which stickers where up and how many. Nice idea and quite effective. But when was the Karim Rashid bashing, i would like to hear those comments!thanks IP: Logged |

"(this collective) is stepping its way into a critical and inclusive position within the design world and do not require such shallow and thin support."you are speaking of those designers mentioned and oft slandered on this website; who, whilst creating a "new " fashionable style of utilization, really do nothing more than become proponents of trends worth no more than the plastic objects they blow mold out of. really, do you honestly think that anyone outside the design world cares about them or their "critical ideas?" Excuse my pessimism; but as the hype machine spins and churns out bastardizations from one trick egomaniacs (or is it one trick egomaniacs spinning and churning out bastardizations?--you be the judge) I'm looking for the off switch. You call it the "construction of joy" ( funny, some very scary people in Europe used that euphamism much in the same way). I call it Utopianism. Something nice to aspire, to but impossible to acheive. So lets agree that everyone is entitled to their opinions, no ones is better than anyone elses and if you have to be critical, be nice. yeah right and when they built Rome in a day the slaves didnt complain. If you are going to baby step your way into a critical and inclusive position within the design world get used to the backroom name calling and super opinionated criticism however shallow it may be. Its everyone's Real World not your own private utopia. I didnt call anyone names did I? IP: Logged |

Give us a link to Latebloom.I think that all us "lessers" need to judge for ourselves. For all I know, just another wanna-be rock star designer, short on design. I want something alittle more tangible. IP: Logged |

Itis not all about money, that is rashids game, we need to pause and reflect on what it is we are doing. What kind of culture are we contributing to and for what reasons. What are these issues? If we don't ask and just work for the paycheck than our profession is doomed to repeat the failures of the past. Lets look to the future and try to see some humanity in it! IP: Logged |

I'm totally new to this discussion group and quite honestly very dissapointed to see that some designers have time and energy to spend in such infantile fashion. It reminds me of some discussion groups that I thought were at a lower intelectual level. I mean no offense, I'm just amazed. Some might not agree with what some designers do but, isn't it more important to get busy with your own life? I'm certainly looking forward to more objective points of view. IP: Logged |

for those interested, I found a latebloom site at: http://www.aki.nl/mad/homes/latebloom/ im not sure if it is THE latebloom, but its based out of the netherlands so it would make sense. Funny enough, one of the guys (todd) went to my school, Emily Carr, in Vancouver, Canada, but ended up taking off to Amsterdam before finishing and took a couple of other students with him. apparently he had been accused of plagiarism or something like that. Now he does work for Rashid. I had heard the story a couple times before, but didnt realize he was part of the latebloom clan (i thought they we're all Italians). also check out this superstar: http://www.coroflot.com/public/public_job_seeker_details.asp?job_seeker_id=6719 IP: Logged |
