i rushed a site and asked for suggestions and got chewed out so i got off my butt and did a new layout. the box on the left would be thumbnails of my latest work, the image on the right would be changed regularly & will have a detective theme. the left half would be done in flash mx. your input would be greatly appreciated IP: Logged |

It's definitely a great work in progress...My only concern is the rotated text for the navigation links. I don't fancy them too much... again, it's not that I'm opposed to different methods of laying out text on a page, but i always have to tilt my head sideways to read them (moreso in libraries... my pet peeve) Anyway, keep it up! That transposed image of the girl in the top right corner is FREAKY!!! good luck! IP: Logged |

too big!...well on the monitors in the library are only 800x600 res.why are you using screched images they look quite pixilated. personaly..pop ups do my nut in...though they can be good if used for the right things. whats the girl drinking the coffee all about?...ok just read you post again...drr...ok, but shouldn't i be able to click on it and it would take me to the project...dunno in terms of your interface being upside down...hmmm....but if you want to be qurky then thats ok. for the navigation i was thinking of giving the arrow some type of animation leading the user to the buttons, also when you rollover the buttons they would tilt so you can read them easier. as far as the left side pic i wanted to have the look of a forensic show or mystery. is the girl too much? thanks for your help quote: Originally posted by HeeBGeeB: It's definitely a great work in progress...My only concern is the rotated text for the navigation links. the site will be done in flash so it will scale to fit user's screen. the images are not stretched i used a really low compression to help with download time. the final product will be alot better. also there should be no pop ups. and you will be able to click on the projects once site is finished. in the planning stages right now, want to make sure site has a profesional feel to it with out being too bland or too extreme thanks for the help quote: Originally posted by wolfie: too big!...well on the monitors in the library are only 800x600 res.why are you using screched images they look quite pixilated. personaly..pop ups do my nut in...though they can be good if used for the right things. whats the girl drinking the coffee all about?...ok just read you post again...drr...ok, but shouldn't i be able to click on it and it would take me to the project...dunno in terms of your interface being upside down...hmmm....but if you want to be qurky then thats ok.

girl drinking coffee...just doens't fit. its looks like a pic from a photo-stock website that people use on corporate websites. other than that...it looks like it could go somewhere.IP: Logged |

i hope you mean to say 50% of the screen res....dont do the lazy thing an mkae it go to the full res....your site can instantly look much to big on a 21" when you 2 foot away from the screen IP: Logged |

the cool splash page is cool if its 1996. lay off the photoshop and stock photos. don't work on it for a week. during that week go for a walk, kiss a girl, get drunk, listen to bethoven and do something that scares you. when you com back to your site it will blow the previous one away. remeber you not a designer because you know photoshop. I can see you have great potential. IP: Logged |
