Bugatti is French run by Germans now. Ettore Bugatti was italian, but moved to France, which he adopted as his home. The 2nd Bugatti was based in Italy for the 15 seconds they existed. VW is now moving them to France again.IP: Logged |

you guys have no history, though the 911 is probably the most 'timeless' design. The Volvo P1800ES is a bad ass ride. Now all you 18 year olds will scratch your heads and run to google. Not the best designed car. But I haven't had the pleasure of driving enough of my candidate cars, which I would have to before selecting one.... IP: Logged |

I told you onc this car kicks ass. Porche is nice but come on it's the sam shape for lord knows how long. Little face job here and there. Ferrari is overrated.Mercedes hmmm "The Mercedes Vision SLR Roaster combining the very best of the manufacturer's past, present and future is a sports car par excellence. Leaving the competition far behind, the Vision SLR is the car of the new millennium and the dream of every man. Hey Mr-914.I know Bugatti is owned and produced by VW. The car is still the "best current car design" along with the Gallardo. And as a whole, Italians are at the top of chain when it comes to car design and styling. Most of the other cars mentioned on this thread are awesome, but the lines, proportions, and style of the Gallardo is #1. IP: Logged |

I can't believe anyone would cite the Vision SLR as a great design. It is so overcooked, and poorly proportioned! It looks squashed...and what's with those hideous side vents? Is this a f-ing Saleen mustang or Callaway corvette conversion?? Benz's styling (yes I said styling, not design) has gone straight into the shitter after Bruno Sacco left. It's become so undignified and flashy. The last good looking merc was the current S class. I'd love an S600 AMG! PS this in no way criticizes the performance aspects of the SLR, btw.IP: Logged |

Enzo: Are the current Bugatti designed in Italy? I think the EB 110 was done by Italdesign, but the new VW/Bugattis are done by VW/Audi aren't they?Mercedes-Benz: I love their conventional car designs, except the SLR. Most supercars are overblown balls of teenage testosterone, the SLR is no exception. However, the other more normal Mercs are all solid, conservative designs with nifty headlights. IP: Logged |

As I'm no longer 14 years old, I'll have to forgo the completely unobtainable and impractible, although oft times beautiful, supercars and instead go with the TOYOTA PRIUS.Truly advanced in a number of ways this car is beautiful in that it provides for consumer's needs with less damage to the planet to boot. And, as industrial designers have been trying to convince people for years that we are more than just stylists, I forgive the less than supermodel looks. IP: Logged |

Mr-914: I'm not sure where the Bugatti's are designed, but they are owned and produced through VW.The Veyron doesn't look like the average wedge shaped supercar. And they pulled off a 2-tone paint scheme well.

...driver? I have yet to read a post, though I have not read carefully, that mentions a car's handling/ride/performance as a factor in best car design. Am I missing the point or are we not actually driving the cars anymore? I'd venture that the best current car...from a driver's standpoint...is the Subaru WRX. Don't knock it till you try it. I also have to give a nod to the BMW M3. Alas, american buyers are only offered the decidedly lackluster version of the european beauty. I wonder if they think american drivers won't appreciate how the car drives...or maybe it's the emission standards. Oops off topic. IP: Logged |
