a while back, some of use were talking about how new technologies are becoming more and more invassive . The product in question there, the "tooth phone" is still a step down from nanotechnology, but indicates a possible move towards body product implants, etc. well here's a new one for you: ultrasonic speakers that target individuals up to 100 or more feet away with sounds or messages . now there's no need for implants. Think personalized advertising a la 'minority report', pop machines that talk to you, or sonic weapons that can create sound decoys or immobilize the enemy with concentrated sound. very cool, and very scary. I wonder what this is going to do to schizophrenia... IP: Logged |

Ultrasonic is nothing new. There is an application where they use sound to actually drill into metal using really intense frequency channeling. I'd really like to see that technology inplemented into a gun, you can put a sonic hole in someone just by channeling intense sound through their sorry ass.IP: Logged |

of course ultrasonic isnt new. but in case you didnt read the article or dont understand what ultrasonic is: it cant be heard by humans , its out of our hearing range...in other words, its ULTRAsonic. this is like allowing a person to see the ultraviolet or infrared colour spectrum. what the guy has figured out is how direct and focus sound as you would a laser with light, ultrasonically, but then make the sound audible, but only where the sound is projected. in a crowd, you could focus a message to just one person, and nobody else would hear it. the article mentions a guy at MIT doing a similar project, called Audio Spotlight. here it is. i hate to disappoint you but russia and china have already developed frequency equipment that cancels any frequency at any range. maybe you should try physics. it's a wonderful science. IP: Logged |

Cool...I'm interested in the marketable uses of this technology. Imagine the uses for this in personal devices like laptops, pda's cellphones, etc.IP: Logged |

"I wonder what this is going to do to schizophrenia..." It'll become the hip new mental disorder. Be the first kid on your block to hear Satan whisper sweet nothings in your ear about that soda that you REALLY REALLY REALLY have to buy! Aren't you thirsty yet?So I probably shouldn't rant about this subject again, but I'll just say my tooth phone comments cover my opinion on this technology too... IP: Logged |
