I have a Mac service business in northern New Jersey. I am finding that, at least for us, the need for Mac service within the creative industry is declining. Can you tell me your thoughts on why. Is it because: (1) Macs are so much more reliable than they used to be. (2) Users are becoming more and more knowledgeable in troubleshooting, and are repairing there own. (3) The internet is providing resources for do it yourself. (4) We don't fix, just replace. I truly would appreciate the feedback, and getting to know the users experience. Thanks Angie IP: Logged |

(6) movement of creative industry to the dark side. Peecees. More copies of Photoshop these days are sold for Windows than for MAC OS - it's actually been that way for about 4 years.

I hear 90% of home users have PC's and only 10% have MACs. Its all about demand for the service. My suggestion, learn how to do it yourself. You would be surprised how much you can do. IP: Logged |

Macs have been on the way out of creative studios for the past 7 years or so. PC's are cheaper, easier to find IT support for, have the same software, and have extremely comparable usability. The past 4 studios I've worked in have switched from Macs to PCs and no-one's complained about it. Granted I switched to a PC back in the late 90's but macs are not going away. If you are in the graphic design industry you most likely will be using a mac. Also there are certain video and audio editing applications that are only available for macs... although I think that will change.<rant> My only wish is they would play together better. Lets face it, if you have a quark or In design document and don't use true type fonts you can't switch platforms. Sure you can save as a pdf but then you can't edit. <rant>
