Is this the same renderer that's in ProEngineer? I've never had a lot of sucess with it.

It is the core rendering application for most of the CAD packages. Vellum, SolidWorks, Pro-e, Think3, and many others.

The redering quality in pro depends if you are useing the basic rendering application, or you are useing the PhotoRender extension with is an additional licence component, but a lot better.

I was refering to the Photorender extension.
I could never seem to consistently save the color, light, and texture values I applied to my surfaces and enviornments. There was also issues with carrying over these values over from part to assemblies and back again. Alias (though I hate them) has done a great job in this area.

is that shader language like Renderman shaders? code them in C/C++? is there a tool for creating shaders? like Multilister?

old news i found. "The first suite of Mold-Tech material archives is now available." i didn't know Mold-Tech materials were available. shaders too? i'm interested now.
