Ok I work full time. All the software I use at work is legit for me. At home I have my private legal software. Although they need upgrading.Plus some are arghh!! emm! Anyway I just calculated how much it will cost to upgrade and it was- 7000$US :-OShould I take the hard way or the easy way? The other thing is that I might be going freelance in the next 6 months. It's crazy if I spend this then in 6 months it's all old again. Is it better to be dodgy for a bit and then buy when I go freelance? OR should I blow the $ now and upgrade if I need in the future??? I wish I had no morals but I find hard to use something I did not pay for.... ADVICE from any wiseguy...

don't knock morals. they keep you out of trouble.something to consider is word gets round. if you're using a warez'd high-end package and deliver good work to a client licensing the same package, there is a chance the software vendor will hear about you. or maybe just another designer who's losing business to you and reports you. imagine what that would do to your business. trust and honesty are an important part of this business. better to stick where you are a little longer to pay for legit software. then advertise it and talk it up. and don't worry about upgrades. companies take longer than anyone to upgrade! upgrade when you need to. good time to buy software. end of year specials can be real sweet. prices keep coming down. Pro/E can be had for under $4k. one job pays for it. hard to pass up going legit if you're serious.best of luck. IP: Logged |
