Does anyone know of a good way to bring work from solidworks into Maya? I've had some success through a whole series of roundabout processes, but i'm convinced there's got to be an easy way, or some program or plug-in. If anyone has info on this, please let me know, thanx IP: Logged |

i found a link to a page that looks like it might help: http://www.io.tudelft.nl/id-studiolab/compvis/learning/howto/solidworks_maya/ i haven't tried this yet, but it might do the trick. I'm also curious about finding an easy process to convert/ import from solidworks to Maya, so any other replies on how to would be greatly appreciated. - Montorrow IP: Logged |

here's something i found... http://www.okino.com/solutions/solidworks.htm I think it only allows for polygonal modelling in Maya- unless there's a good way to go from Poly to Nurbs or Sub division surfaces. There's a demo of this program on the page. from the looks of it, i think the demo will give you a crappy looking rendering with holes, watermarks, and such.
Haven't tried it, but it might be worth a shot IP: Logged |

iges should work if SW can export it. rendering is slower. obj file is better but you may have problems importing obj files. i asked Alias and they said Maya was screwing up the obj files out of Pro/E. that was Maya 4. think 5 still has that problem. i edit the obj file by hand.polys/NURBs/subD convert within Maya.
