can anybody tell me if the ID program at San Jose State University is a decent program? I have a BS in Industrial Engineering and I'm looking for the right ID schooling that:1.) has a good blend of technical and aesthetic concepts. 2.) is well connected with top design consultancies. 3.) is not a ridiculously over-priced.

SJSU has what you said you are looking for. But are you ready to give up 5 years of your life? Can you take the abuse? You have a degree, why not use it? If you choose ID I hope you love design and not money. (no money for at least a few years)IP: Logged |

csulb is your best bet, the program is engineering based rather than conceptual ideas that dont make it through production.IP: Logged |

I just graduated last week from SJSU so I can now bash Migurski all I want and not care about him retaliating. "csulb grad" is probably right, the SJSU program was several years of hell and Migurski, the son of a bitch who runs the program, has absolutely no work experience. He has no moral ethics whatsoever, and behaves like a child.IP: Logged |

SJSU had a crop of good designers in the 1990s http://id.sjsu.edu But from what I saw of their latest grads the quality has gone down significatly. Your best bet in the Bay Area may be Academy of Art College. If you are going to pay bucks then Art Center College of Design would be a better bet. CSULB may be better these days.IP: Logged |

Do NOT go to SFSU. It isn't really an ID school. THe instructors are not in tuned with the mainstream ID industry.IP: Logged |

honestly i wouldnt recommend csulb anymore. ever since uncle herb has gone away, the drafting/engineering tradition has gone too. kammy's methodolgy classes were the best classes there were. is he still teaching or did he retire? who's left now tooby? i heard hatch is gone. its certainly a possibility. ahhh those days of sanding at 2am. i think i still have foam stuck in my lungs.IP: Logged |
