Hi guysbeen wondering why do people do a postgrad in id instead of a postgrad in business or marketing or management? i mean..it seems like the latter mentioned are more useful in the so-called 'real' world unless u are planning to follow the 'teaching' path. what is the use of a masters in ID over a masters in business? thanks all. just thinking which postgrad degree i should pursue.

It's entirely possible for someone to need/want to continue to develop one's practice outside the commercial realm. A graduate degree in ID is not for everyone.IP: Logged |

Here are a few:•Because they want to teach •Because they are from another country and an advanced degree in design is respected •Because they already have an undergrad degree in something other than ID and think an advanced degree will serve them better If you already have a degree in ID you would be smarter to get an advanced degree in business.

I am considering being a fine art major in sculpture and then doing grad in I.D. Is that as smooth transiition or will I be ****ed? IP: Logged |

That's what I did. I wouldn't recommend it. I would have been much better off getting a second bachelors in ID.If you do go the master's route be sure to take several undergrad courses first. (It will take a bit longer but worth it in the long run.) You will not learn design skills as a fine art major or as a grad student. Grad school is more about research quote: Originally posted by artmajor: I am considering being a fine art major in sculpture and then doing grad in I.D.
