I think you should look at Un-fashion. Items that are not nessacarily created with fashion in mind. That is what I am particularly interested in. Do a survey of various garmnets from a variety of cultures and see how they can be introduced into the mainstream fashion world. John Galliano sometimes is a good example of this. He tends to borrow strong ethnic looks from various cultures, some are more fashionable (like kimonos from Nippon) and others are not (like wool caps from Mongolia). Look at the dirty punk rock scene, south asian ceremonial wear, theatre costume, military clothing, etc. Alot of these areas are not conisidered to contain elements of style or fashion however I think being able to pull from them says alot. I think it would be noble for a designer to look into unfashion and adapt it into the mainstream and find a place and meaning for it. what school do you attend by the way? IP: Logged |

How about fashion and technology....wearable technology. I hear there are coat that can determine the outdoor temperacture and adjust the heating element accordingly. There is conductive paint for clothing. You should approach your topic as a research project. You may discover something your interested in. IP: Logged |
