I have checked the usual suspects - Thomas Register, Google - but does anyone have a recommendation for a plastic bag manufacturer in the Chicago to Twin Cities area? The bag will be heavy duty - it will be used to transfer change (the largest load is 4000 quarters) from banks to the Federal Reserve.

Thanks.

Thanks for the lead. We will be calling the Fed to get the weight on 4000 quarters, I will keep you posted. When we determine that weight, we will substitute pennies for the quarters ($50-$100 of pennies is easier than $1000 of quarters).

Plastic because of rules regarding the visibility of the contents of the bags (bomb scares maybe?). Similar bags are using 6 mill PE. There is a shift from the traditional canvas bags and the plastic ones available are not very compatible with the coin counters being used today.

Thank you my friend. Poly-Pak will do custom work. CleanSweep and Block look like distributers, but they did lead me to PM Company - they are the competition.

P.S. Not only do you know everything, you also have a lot of time on your hands and quite possibly fabulous karma. Thanks again.

You could just weigh one quarter and multiply that by 4000...I've never tried to contact the federal reserve before...but I imagine they are kind of busy. The real quesiton is...how much mass does a quarter loose over time due to wear hehe.

For those who care, (and I can't imagine there are many) the Fed requirements can be found here:

http://www.bos.frb.org/finsvcs/html/publica/cash/html/ca040102.htm

Also, minimun bag weight is 1000 coin dollars - 35.5-35.9 pounds.
Maximum bag weight is 10,000 dimes - 50.1-50.5 pounds.
