We are developing products that use ozone technology. Ozone is the most powerful germicide. I want to know if anybody knows if products that emit ozone are legal in the United States ? (i know they are in Europe e.g. hairdryers, toothbrushes etc.). Any links or info. to sites that verify this would be greatly appreciated !

DEL Ozone (formerly DEL Industries). this is a California company that has been around for about thirty years. i've built a few engineering models for them over the years.

if it's okay in CA, it's probably okay in Peoria.

Ozone generators are certainly legal here in the US. There could be some type of regulation, in terms of volume or output, but I know that home "ozinators" are available here in the US...though not widely .

Thanks for the replies. After much research, I found that ozone emitting products are indeed legal in the U.S. and Canada so long as the output is not greater then 5 parts per million. A certain output level below this is good for 'the ozone layer' (apparently), upto 5ppm is harmless to people, anymore than 5ppm is harmful to people and the environment. This is what C.S.A. told me, and they offer to test products and certify them for $2500 which provides a basic level of product libility concerning harmful levels of ozone emitted.
