I'd stay where you are in Taiwan. 40K gets you nothing, I repeat, nothing, in SF area anywhere, unless you live in a cardboard box and ride a bicycle everywhere and have no TV, cable, cellphone, or girlfriend.

re-graduated from a southern public university in 89 with one bs (non-design related) and one master in id

started 28k for rendering, model-making, sculpting, carving, pattern making, designing & fabricating production fixtures.

later, moved to work for plastic molder and got laid off due to company buyout

learned how to use 3d cad with another older and moved on

transferred to fortune 500 company for doing project management as in-house design liaison

promoted recently for overseeing a couple junior in-house designers, two design firms, 7 oem molders, six mold makers... higher management level, currently making less than 100K (w/everything and w/o ownership)

prices paid: eye sight, half of index finger, life style and hours of sleep

earned: self-confidence on design

I am interested in becoming an interior designer, but I am still in highschool, can I take the classes while you are still young or do you have to wait till you get older, and how long does it take to finish the classes and actually get your first job, and how much do you get paid for the job.

dear 'interior design hopeful girl' if you would like a fruitful and proper response to your good question I would suggest you post it as a topic of its own. Use the post new topic button. I can give you some suggestions then and we will not interupt this string which is strictly for incomes.

I am looking into studying ID at the Art Insititute in Denver. I noticed that you work in Colorado, and would like to know if you have any thoughts on the school. If you have time, I would really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks.

That is not that great considering the overtime put in say 72K or 75K including bonus. Divide by 1.375 for unpaid overtime. That's 54.5 K. For a #2 guy in a firm. Well that's not good.
