Around 20K Euros, including some freelance jobs that could cover around 20% of total income... I do mostly Flash development, extensive use of ActionScripting to develop rich E-Learning applications... Badly underpaid for what I work... Around 150 Euros of monthly prizes, that are enough to buy cigarrettes for the whole month... Shitty salary if you think i work in the largest IT company in my homecountry...Oh, yeah, I am based in Lisbon, Portugal... If someone here needs good flash design/development, check www.kolorvize.com to help me raise my annual income! IP: Logged |

My Best Year, 2000. I made 345,000 US freelancing in NYC. Last Year 90k. ruv. What's your feel for the most you can raise the rate if you get a feel for what the firm will pay. If you think the company is used to paying $100/hr how far do you think in percentage terms can you push the rate with minimal loss of contracts you can win. My feel is 15 to 20% and you start losing significant amounts at 25%. This also corresponds with my own feel with subs. If they are good I'm willing to by a 15-20% premium because I can trust the job will be done on time, done right with minimal hassle. At 25% to 35% I start to think twice. At 50% they have to be proven and I have to have a significant reason. All I can say is Wow. If you bill 1500 hours that's an amazing $230/hr. My hat is off to you. I'm happy if I can get any work at $100/hr. I might try it the odd time and see if they blink. Just take your normal rate and raise it to see if it makes a difference. If someone is going to pay $50/hr they won't pay $150/hr but they will easily pay 20% more. If they are willing to pay $80 they might go for $95 to $105. Got to try the self induced 20% raise. The most I got a firm to go up is 87.5%. They gave me a low figure I countered and did not blink an eye as I felt my rate was reasonable and fair given what I was bringing to the table and was still below what I feel a tier 2 design firm charges. I told them directly that I was charging much below a full fledged firm. I left with a deposit check on a gentlemen's agreement. They showed they meant business by actually getting a deposit cut before I left the meeting. They did not promise to get me a deposit in the next few days or that they would get back to me. They just went ahead to get things moving. IP: Logged |
