As much as I think index's response was rude he/she is quite correct in implying you should never beg for a job. This is not the image you want to portray to a hiring manager.Sorry I am not familiar with the Seattle area. IP: Logged |

Congratulations on that ID degree. Where did you go to school? UofW? WWU? While at the recent IDSA National Conf. in CA, I noticed very active ID(and HF) recruiting from a variety of companies such as Microsoft. They have a pretty impressive internal Design Team. Check their site about openings in Redmond. Teague had/or has an opening for a Model Maker. Like most US cities, Seattle is being hit pretty hard in the Design community... IP: Logged |

Teague is a great company, I have been talking with them about a position. Lakeside design is also expanding their design team. The consultant firms here are really professional, but they have a great sense of humor and a laid back atmosphere. Thanks for the info. Hey, I'm not being pathetic, I'm just keeping it real. Times are rough for entry level designers, but we will pull through. I'm a graduate from Illinois, coming out to the Great Northwest to Change the World!!!!IP: Logged |

Well, I've been here for about three weeks and I love this area. You must like nature and not have any strong dislike of overcast or rainy days. The economy up here seems strong and I know some firms are hiring, but some companies are doing some major firing. Boeing and Microsoft are laying off people and that trickles down to all parts of Seattle's economy. Living expenses are pretty reasonable, however. Large 1 bed apartment runs around $700-$800 in the good neighborhoods, and the crime rate is actualy low. Most of the firms I have talked with out here have been hiring, but always looking for the experience. I came to the area because the high tech, large manufacturing base of the area, and the proximity to the Sierra's, I'm a rock climbing fanatic. IP: Logged |

havn,Seattle might not be the place for me, I hate the rain I live in Texas where it gets up to 100 degrees in October, we see rain maybe 3 weeks out of the year, and it is flat. I think I will stick to southern states. A one bedroom apt. here in the nice part of town will run you about $550 to $650. Kudos to you. IP: Logged |

Talk to David Ryan, he has an office on Lake Washington Blvd. near the arboretum, he is a former i.d. professor at Illinois and has had a successful practice here in Seattle for a number of years.IP: Logged |

They sound like a bunch of Nazis though, no medical, no benefits, and "working from home wouldn't be an option". Good luck.IP: Logged |
