What do you do if you notice a product exactly like one you designed in stores. And it looks like they slightly altered the item that they must have sceen from my coroflot portfolio?

Just be flattered. Bottom line is if you don't want your ideas copied or used as inspiration then don't post them online.

Its only one idea. I'm sure you have many more if you are truly a creative person.

Actually I have seen all but one of the 20 main projects I did in school on the shelf in the last 3 years since I graduated. 2 are actually from the companies that sponsored the projects, yet I was told how much that Idea sucked at the time, now one is the best selling product for that company. Sorry the prize was $1000, and the prize was given to a kid who did a 5 minute charcoal sketch of a flameshape, and made up this cockamamie(sp) story that it was a color (without light or electrisity)changing plastic that should be on the market within 20 years. Yes I am a little bitter, but then I remember I have had a good job and steady clients both at firm, and moonlighting, and he is still working at Famous in the Mens Suits department.

I agree you should be flattered, just have an image of the current product on your portfolio spred to illustrate that you were thinking ahead.

o well, they did change it from the original. but the asthetics of the design is exactly the same. it is a pencil sharpener that fiskers corp produced although my original is not a pencil sharpener. i'll get over it and be honored because i too draw inspiration from other's designs
