I went to see the Ace Gallery's Hiro Yamagata exhibit. Very cool. The main room is by far the best. We sandwiched the trip between beers at Milady's Bar which totally helped in the illusions. You have to squint your eyes a little to get the full effect. Sort of like those posters that you supposedly can see a ship or a peace sign... although I never have been able to do those... and there aren't really any pictures here. Just a fantastic sense of space - the floor drops out and the world becomes pixellated. Trippy called it a "digital forest" and us "Hanzeltron and Greteltron". I was more reminded of the Simpson's episode where Homer ends up as a 3-D rendering inside a computer world. I guess I just relate to Homer more. It reminded me that I really have no idea what fiberoptics are and how lasers and holograms really work. They're impresive words though. Add those words to a project and it'll instantly have more moxy (my word of the week). At any rate it was worth the trip, and well worth the giggle you will get when you tell your friends about the far out light show you saw.
