Trust me dear friend I have not forgotten you. I received the custom laminate for my chair-chair yesterday. Wilsonart rocks. Did I mention that I got them to sponsor me on this project? I think I might have. They didn’t even ask for a picture. I just wrote to them and asked what their partnering policy was and what I should do to apply, and a few e-mail exchanges later they agreed to send me the laminate for free! I am terrifically excited but immersed in thesis hog boggle. I am up late and wondering what fun everyone else is having when I just want to get this darned thing over with and get back to making stuff. This is my hurdle, my ring to jump through. I manage to procrastinate in the cleverest ways. This is apparently one of them. However I am having a teensy bit of fun – reminiscing about my undergraduate thesis writing - which this is starting to feel more and more like: late nights spurting chunks of text out and days of terrible stumps and circle running. I just killed fifteen minutes looking for a red push button old school style office phone that can be our bat phone. I have a funny thing that I (we) do. I animate and rename all of my objects around me. Sometimes it’s just “the pretty light” (we also have “the ugly light”). The remote control is “the pacifier”. Our anatomical science room lady (ya know – exposed organs for educational purposes) is always referred to as “her” or “she” (“should we move her over there by the window?”). Naming. Always naming. We saw The White Stripes this weekend. I should restrain myself from telling you how great they are. I’ll sound like a groupie. I only want to add that he was apparently an upholsterer – which as a furniture designer makes my heart swoon just a little bit more. My friends have asked me to sell my mixed CD’s to them. I’m considering it. The designer in me instantly started thinking of a little catalog and how it would be designed and what my logo would be. I’m a nerd. Here is my logo for today:

Get it? I’m J.C. Okay back to the drawing board.
PS: I am hoping that you check out my archives up there in the right hand corner…. I think there’s some good stuff there.
