Discover Design With Richard Danne & Michael Bierut

Strand Book Store and Designers & Books curate an event series (May 3 - May 19) which boldly complements NYCxDESIGN'S annual celebration of design in New York City. DISCOVER DESIGN aims to increase awareness and appreciation for important and newly released books in architecture, graphic design, and fashion.

Richard Danne & Michael Bierut discuss the long-awaited release of The 1975 NASA Graphics Standards Manual Reissue. The beautiful reissue (by the same team that brought Massimo Vignelli's legendary NYCTA manual back from the archives) includes an introduction by Danne and exclusive, never-before-released images of the original presentation to NASA. 

Richard Danne served as Design Director for the redesign of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; the firm Danne & Blackburn received a Presidential Award for Design Excellence for the program. In 2014, Danne was awarded the AIGA Medal, the highest honor in design. Michael Bierut is a partner at Pentagram and is a Senior Critic in Graphic Design at the Yale School of Art.
