After a change in corporate ownership Linksys wanted to revive the former glory of their brand by reviving their most iconic and most successful product ever – the WRT router.
Our objective was to create brand value through design. The new router needed to clearly be identifiable as WRT yet look more modern and powerful and architecturally satisfy the technical requirements of a modern router. We established a visual vocabulary by analyzing the design elements used by the classic WRT and ranking them in order of impact resulting in the black and blue color breakup, a horizontal posture and pronounced feet as key elements to carry over.
The WRT Router - both financially as well as in mind- and market share - has been the most successful product introduction in the history of Linksys.
