Sprout collaborated with DeepCharge — a group of academic researchers and engineers from Northeastern University — to design innovative technologies that radically simplify the wireless charging experience. Through years of R&D, DeepCharge developed a core technology to transform ordinary surfaces into charging solutions. The surface transmutation technology can reconfigure table, desk, or counter surfaces to act as ambient charging media for any type of device, including laptops.
Our team was engaged to design form factors for the initial technology. Our sleek, low-profile solutions embody the vision of simplicity that DeepCharge imagined both for end-users and for developers. The design work defined a language for the system’s modular ‘charging tiles.’ These tiles can be networked to power pads that vary in sizes and configurations, from small electronics and desktop applications to charging docks for drones and other powered fleets.
