Ventura Lambrate is always a treat during Milan Design Week. The neighborhood unfolds into a variety of spaces that become home to the lighting, furniture, fashion and conceptual products (and much more). Currently in its 6th year, Ventura Lambrate strives to give a platform for up and coming designers as well as a space to envision cross-overs between design, technology and science.
Highlights of the show included a number of design inquiries dealing with technology. Self-assembling tables from the MIT Self-Assembly Lab and smart materials from Materialdesign IMD at HfG Offenbach lead the way embedding technology directly in designs. On the other end of the spectrum, products from Prague-based Studio Koncern questioned how technology is impacting us with their installation "Embracing Paranoia" while a number of projects from "honey, we need to talk" by Design School Kolding used technology to bring people together in Walk With Me by Ditte Blohm.
