That network grew from a base of traditional machine shops which means they offer a variety of processes – CNC, injection molding, extrusion and stamping – that many 3D printing services do not. Their focus is on facilitation, harnessing software and an in-house team of project engineers to clear production hurdles and provide quality assurance.

With growth came a need to serve the needs of frequent users for whom price was less of a factor than turn-around, reliability and quality control. 3D Hubs consolidated to include only vendors of a certain production and service capability.
