Design Criticism of the Cognalyzer, a Wearable That's Like a Breathalyzer for Cannabis
Interesting to see this being more developed since it's part of some design research I did on the exact same topic over 7 years ago:
What is the unit being measured?
This seems to be going in the wrong direction. The need is to detect someone's ability to safely operate a motor vehicle or (in the case of a workplace) a potentially hazardous machine.
What are the key factors that determine impairment? Things like reaction time, situational awareness, effective control and so on. Given that a car (machine, etc) is external to the human body, surely there's a way to use a hand-held device to test those factors directly and thus determine a level of impairment based on standards.
Not a dig but that looks like it was designed by an engineer. How are you supposed to clean that thing? No way I'm putting that on my head after x people have used it. How does it not fall apart from regular use? Wires everywhere, no visional strain relief.
