On a farm, the amount of things you need to hang on a wall are absurd. What I really need are several dozen cheap utility hooks, but I somehow fell down the rabbit hole of looking at wrought-iron and cast-iron wall hooks at this antique hardware dealer.
While they do stock overly ornate ones that look like props from a Victorian-era pirate movie…
Galena Cast-Iron Double Hook
Hartford Cast-Iron Double Hook
Cast Iron Gothic-Style Plant Hanger
Decorative Cast-Iron Triple Hook with Black-Powder Coat
…I was impressed by how many they have that look modern, or would look great in a modern setting:
They also offer some of these styles in brass, but I think the cast-iron versions look way better.
Ok but what cheap utility wall-hooks did you find? Am I the only one who can't stand paying $14 to home depot for a piece of bent steel with a couple holes in it? Out on a farm is not the only place you want to hang a vast array of stuff on the wall - in fact I'd say the space constraints of city living make it equally compelling!
I’m a lapsed industrial designer. I was born in NYC and figured I’d die there, but a few years ago I abandoned New York to live on a farm in the countryside with my wife. We have six dogs.
