  Interestingly enough, yes! There is a *huge* need for designers in the defense industry; typically the term "design" is applied as an "engineer" and while these could be seemingly much different; a lot of the skill sets are similar - think of "human factors engineering" versus ethnography collection in companies that are building requirements for their customers... Figuring how how to keep the most number of people alive while dropping bombs could definitely use more design assistance. Do understand, though, 1984's "War is Peace" has a ton of applicability in the field, so it takes understanding that moral challenges exist in all forms of commercial exchange. Please encourage the industry that design is crucial! It needs help, too, and balance.

  it is always important to make weapons both attractive and user friendly in order to lure potential buyers AND to help them utilize their brand new toys more accurately, comfortably and intuitively.
  plus, consider the broader meaning of the term User Experience. it's truly mind blowing...
