Hugh Graham posts some rejection letters from the 1930s that he discovered in the basement of his house. They document the efforts of a Mary Horlbeck to place stories in magazines between 1933 and 1937, including 138 rejections letters for stories such as The Blessed Latticed Gate, Rake-Off, Rapture More Golden, and The Flesh Is Weak. As Hugh writes, "This scrapbook is a testament to one person's willingness to continue to pursue her dreams." While we can imagine tracking rejection turning into an obsessive wallow (and Lord knows there are probably some nifty 2.0 tools that would enable that: Rejectr or Failr anyone?), we like how Hugh calls our attention to what's important: Mary's passion.
