If it weren't for the rash of designey power tools we've seen recently…
Black & Decker's Reviva line of cordless tools
Hoto 12V drill

…this design below might not make much sense. But these days it looks positively saleable. Called Module, it's a concept design for a cordless drill by industrial designer Maya Prokhorova.
Prokhorova hails from Tbilisi, Georgia and speaks English as a second language, so there are some translation issues in the description, but you can get the gist:
Tool snobbery aside, you definitely know someone who would buy this.
I'm glad the batteries are numbered because having so many may be confusing.
my cordless tool batteries will henceforth be referred to as "accumulators"
Yes to the 'house drill' ^. Mine has a pivoting handle so it takes up less space in a kitchen junk drawer. We don't have to resort to 'tool snobbery' to see how poorly functioning this concept would be. All formal exercise, minimal function.
My parents have what I'd term as a "house drill", a light duty low powered one for various sundry tasks that a manual screwdriver would be fine for, but sped up/made easier with a powered one. I think this would be perfectly acceptable in that role, and it would look more interesting.
For me there's no such thing as a "House Level" for drills. Like, I feel they haven't actually thought about putting one to proper use. Your hand would be slipping off the thing constantly if you tried to apply any pressure to it. Let alone where's the space for any of the gearing etc. However take it out of this application and drop it into something more specialist like the Milwaukee M12 and it could hold up better. Still doesn't come close to the alternative though, which is retailing at £115-140. Different, but not necessarily better.
