This Ona Wine Chiller is by Crucial Detail, a Chicago-based fancy kitchen goods brand. Meant to be used in place of an ice-filled vessel, it consists of a series of "thermal pods" held within a stainless steel lattice, a wooden coaster, and a puck-shaped icepack that sits below the bottle, nestled within the coaster.
The lattice is slid over the top of the bottle has a small measure of flexibility to it, allowing it to conform to slightly different shapes. Even still it's sold in two sizes, one for bottles up to 3.5" in diameter, the other up to 4".
Bottles can be picked up with the thing on, at least in the press photos.
It's visually interesting for sure, but reviews are mixed; users have praised the looks but complained about fitment issues and questioned how long it actually keeps the bottle cool. I'd be particularly interested to learn what the "thermal pods" are made out of, but the company doesn't say.
These run $115 a pop.
