Graphic designer Drew Tetz has a fascinating gig: Creating animated vinyl records for clients like Disney Music, the Grateful Dead and the rights holders to the Peanuts soundtrack.
"These 'animated records' are a modern form of phenakistoscope," Tetz explains, "an early animation device which creates the illusion of a moving picture when a flicker blurs its rotation."
To view the animations, you do need to view them through a smartphone camera. Alternatively you could download a strobe app to your phone, and view them with the naked eye.
