If you have a stitch ripper and a sewing machine, any pillow is technically adjustable. But California-based Coop Sleep Goods makes pillows that are adjustable by design.
The pillow consists of a washable outer layer made of Lulltra (the company's proprietary blend of bamboo-derived viscose rayon and polyester), which offers breathability, softness and moisture-wicking. The inner layer is a stretchy, breathable polyester that holds the fill, which consists of memory foam cubes and microfiber. To adjust the pillow, you simply undo zippers on both and remove fill from the desired areas.
Alternatively, you can add fill if you prefer a firmer pillow. (The company sells 1/2-lb bags).
The company offers two sizes, Queen and King, and three shapes: The standard Classic, a Cut-Out model for side sleepers, and a Crescent model for side-and-back sleepers.
The Classic runs $85, the others are $100 and a bag of extra fill runs $15 to $26, depending on firmness.
It might sound gimmicky, but the pillow is Consumer Reports' top-rated pillow in a field of 25 recommendations.
