Yesterday we showed you Cambridge Consultants' Syreen; today we've come across another nice piece of medical design, the Bressler Group-designed Dental Vibe.
Like the Syreen, it's made for injections, but of a sort most people find more intimidating--oral injections. What makes this design different is that a) the shape helps retract the lips, b) there's an onboard flashlight, and most importantly c) the tip emits a pulse that causes a sensation of vibration in the gums, completely masking the feeling of the needle. The result is a pain-free injection, so the people in the waiting area don't have to hear you scream like a little girl.
For those interested in medical and healthcare design, California-based interior designer Christie Fournier has just started a Healthcare Design group on Coroflot.
Thus far it only contains images of healthcare environments, but Fournier's intent for the group is to "discuss relevant topics like evidence based design, design for healing environments, healing art, and products for healthcare."
