Designed specifically with the elderly in mind, Wanderest is an inexpensive perch that can be attached to lamp posts as resting points. This aims to help senior citizens maintain health and mobility by providing an infrastructure for regular walking, an excellent light exercise.
From the designer, Nichola Trudgen: Walking is an easy and cost-efficient way to keep mobile and healthy, but the elderly often need to break their walk up into manageable distances with small intervals to rest. Lamp posts are an ideal resting point because they are at equal intervals along the footpath. If every lamp post along a street had a Wanderest it could be looked at as a goal for the elderly, to make it to the next resting spot.
The perch is cost-effective to produce, comprising of three identical panels injection-molded from a recycled Wood Plastic Composite, an environmentally-friendly and easy-to-maintain material. The seat can be attached to a post with either a bolt or two steel straps.
Finally, the perch is also suitable for flat surfaces, and can be used as small leaning stations in busy waiting areas such as banks or hospitals.
