Iceland Design March 2010: Thorunn Arnadottir's unsung concept work

Designer Thorunn Arnadottir's largely unseen student concepts from years ago are just as interesting as her bead clock, which generated its fair share of blog buzz back in 2008. First off take a look at her beautiful Raven jewelry rack, made from black-coated steel wire:

Next check out her And Stretch flat-pack paper rack, which is a simple sheet of veneer or plastic, two cuts and a large rubber band:

Her Bites box o' chocolates takes their shape and pattern from traditional Icelandic knitted sweaters:

Arnadottir's De-Stijl-inspired Tree shelf was cheekily inspired by the fact that Mondrian reportedly hated the color green:

Lastly, her Flower paper rack also ships flat and is made from strips of riveted leather:

Here's to hoping the recently-quiet Arnadottir pops up on our radar again sometime soon.

Nonsense. It looks similar, but isn't the same idea at atall. I love when people say rip-off, is that an official design term? even an intelligent argument. I think not.

Maybe if you weren't so dismissive you might design something that is worthy enough to be blogged about.

I really like some of the things, but the clock - no offence - I think is just a rip-off of the Catena wall clock, designed in 1993 by Andreas Dober for anthologie quartett.
