Inspired by the birth of their daughter, Bruce and Stephanie Tharp of Materious designed Piggy, a savings bank that helps parents teach their children about charity. The ceramic bank comes with two parts: a larger 'momma' pig and a smaller 'baby' one that nestle together. The larger bank is for a child's personal savings and the smaller bank is for charitable giving.
We've been eyeing this project for awhile and even included it (as a prototype) in our 2009 philanthropic gift guide because it was so thematically appropriate. Now, it's finally available for sale, so all of you who have been waiting can get a proper jump on it now. Available through the Materious online shop in pink and white.
Watch below as Bruce demonstrates Piggy, on show now at Cite Goes America, which opened in New York last month, Also in the video are Master Switch, an updated butler pull, and Fallen, an upholstered bench based on a fallen log (shown off by Alissia Melka-Teichroew, curator of the show).
