We took a little time today to explore Brendan Ravenhill's portfolio of works, after receiving photos of his Bare Light, a delicate, richly detailed version of the classic hanging light bulb. In browsing, we found that not only does Brendan produce lighting and furniture, but he's also a boat and barn builder, a sensibility that informs much of his smaller scale-work. Though the Bare Light is probably the most immediately striking piece in his repertoire, there is something wonderfully understated and poetic about his slightly off-keel tractor shed—both are pictured above.See our selection of favorites from the wide range of his work after the jump.
Originally designed for the American Design Club show Breakable, Bare Light has officially passed from prototype to product only a few months later, now produced by L.A. glass artisans from heat-resistant pyrex. Available for purchase from his website.

The Bottle Opener is "a simple tool of great utility." A nail knocked into a specially shaped piece of wood and bent is used as a prying device, while a magnet on one side of the tool holds it to the bottlecap. Another magnet, on the back, secures the opener to the fridge.
