I'm getting ready to put some new base cabinets in my space, and since every square inch counts, I'm tormented by what I'm going to do with the dead corner. You know, that unfortunate box of space where cabinets meet at ninety degrees, and where you can't easily access stuff in the back without getting down on all fours and sticking your arms inside while turning your head to the side and making a "this really sucks" expression.
A lot of people stick Lazy Susans in there, but I knew there had to be more design-y solutions, so I poked around and found these:
That first one is by Hafele, and the Waricorner system below seems identical, but this video gives you a better look at the mechanism:
Knape and Vogt, which makes good-quality and affordable drawers slides that I've used in past projects, has a slightly different solution:
Lastly, the first half of the following video shows a neat soft-touch version of corner cutlery drawers. I'm not a fan of the configuration, but the mechanism looks pretty sweet:
The problem with all of these mechanisms is that they're fiendishly expensive. The hardware alone for the Knape and Vogt system--those are the guys I buy slides from because they're cheaper--rings in at nearly $500, and the Waricorner is a bank-busting $838.42. Just like we tell our clients, good design costs $$.
These are really nice, but if you want high-end take a look at the website http://www.xn--kessebhmer-jcb.com/en/kuechenausstattungen.html (or simply www.kesseboehmer.de and click a few buttons). It's the Kesseboehmer website and they really have some nice stuff. Unfortunately they don't have their most impressive items in their online catalogues; you have to see them at one of the regional trade shows or in Cologne.
What's really nice is that they're starting to trim these out in chrome and emerald glass - that's sharp looking!
(I have nothing to do with these companies, just used their products in the past)

I wonder what they're employee discount is?
220$ for something that looks nearly identical. No clue how the quality compares, though.
