If you weren't excited about jell-o before today, get ready. When we shared the story of British food architects, Bompas & Parr we were hoping to inspire some of you for Gowanus Studio's third annual Jell-O Mold Competition! Held in New York City, the competition is asking designers to explore the everyday uses of this wobbly, delicious, shape-shifting medium. If you're not convinced, check out Modernist Cuisine's incredible high-speed video of gelatin cubes dropped on a solid surface:Designers will compete for a grand prize of $400 in cash, a year membership to the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, gifts from Papabubble, Holstee, and more!
This year's judges include Josee Lepage of Bondtoo, Emily Elsen of Four & Twenty Blackbirds pie shop, and our own Allan Chochinov. Winners will be announced at 8pm on Saturday, June 25, 2011. The judging and awards ceremony will be held at the Gowanus Studio Space in Brooklyn.
