Stop Time with the Sasa Clock and The Present
Even if you had been aware of the bicycle chain clock, yours would have been a very nice adaptation of the concept. Your clock is beautiful and the refinement of the concept is elegant - I love it.
I think a more interesting design analogy to your clock is Thomas Jefferson's seven day clock at Monticello. The USA's most accomplished President, in addition to being our only architect president was also a very good clock designer:

Unfortunately, the website doesn't show how beautifully the clock fits its architectural context or even how it works - the seven days of hanging weights fall through an opening in the ceiling above and down through a hole in the floor to show the labeled day of the week in the entry of the house.
Its worth a visit to see.
The Sasa Clock is also available online for worldwide shipping here: http://www.destes.com/sasa.php, and at The Future Perfect in NY (http://shop.thefutureperfect.com/gift/sasa-clock-12-hrs-natural.html). Spark Design Space is only a small, but very charming, design gallery in Reykjavik, I recommend a visit there if you're ever in Iceland ;)
Too close for comfort when considering everything.
