It might look like a snowy version of a meticulously planned crop circle, but really it's just a guy going out for a long, winter stroll. Simon Beck, a British artist makes the snow a better place for all of us, thanks to his geometric snow designs. He doesn't use a single tool (other than his won two feet) to create these—he simply keeps walking.
Each footprint is an important part in his designs. All of the prints come together to form painstakingly congruent shapes. While we're pretty stumped as to how he monitors his progress from the ground, we'll stick to appreciating the hard work and ridiculous amount of detail. Beck finds untouched snow among mountains near his apartment at Les Arcs—a ski resort in France—to display his work.
In reality, Beck is just trying to spread the beautiful gospel of taking in the scenery. In a statement to My Modern Met, he explains to motivation behind his time-consuming pieces:
"I hope to spread the message [that] the mountains and snow are beautiful and worth preserving, and there are better things in life than spending so much time doing things you don't want to so that you can spend money you haven't got (yet) to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't like."
Really, it's the perfect tribute to those winter-haters who just can't get past the cold temperatures. Keep up-to-date on Beck's designs here.
