By now, you may have seen some of the giant, designer eggs that have popped up around New York City. While the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt may be a well-known event in London, it's only now making its first appearance in NYC this spring. Beginning on April 1st, more than 200 giant eggs—designed by names like Ralph Lauren, Jeff Koons, Zaha Hadid, Diana Von Furstenberg and Marchesa (among many others)—are taking over the city.
Created with a swinging door and a royal purple interior, Hellman-Chang's egg is inspired by the "man of style." While that could mean a lot of things depending on your opinion of dub monks and bolo ties, there's no disputing that the egg's clean and simple form will stick around longer than the trends it houses. Considered a "Gentleman's Valise" by the designers, the chamber is a space for bow ties, cufflinks, cologne and pocket squares to live. As with any good design, the work embodies its designers—in this case, the egg serves as a nod to Hellman-Chang's keen fashion sense.
While we can't give away the exact location of Hellman-Chang's egg (because where's the fun in that?!) we can share that it can be found in the front display of a fashion flagship off of Madison Ave. There's an app available on iTunes and Google Play for those looking to track their egg hunt success. All of the eggs on display are being auctioned off throughout the month of April, as well.
