True I.D. Stories #30: Manu-fracturing Relationships
This shouldn't happen to anyone. Who referred you to OPG?
This would make a nice re-enactment on youtube.
You already have some sketches to help tell the story.
That's it right there. I'd be so far up this guy's ass they wouldn't be able to tell where he ended and I began after that "I've been sick" text. Then again I'm a worrier and a perfectionist...I'd have made regular visits every friday to ensure all was going down as planned.
Live and learn, although at a young age I would have fallen for the exact same thing!! This is probably one of the best ID stories because:
Â1. Short and candid
2. No cliffhanger
3. Practical advice we can ALL relate to.
Not so sure about that advice. The story you told essentially amounts to a large inconvenience, with no real harm done. But if someone like this also has thousands of dollars of your money, then it's much harder to dump them and move on. You might even end up having to sue to (attempt to) recover (a portion of) your money.
Better advice would be to get multiple quotes, and don't just pick the cheapest one. When you go look at a manufacturer, it's pretty obvious who is in business and who's faking it.
I've had this exact experience, I mean, identical. I started reading and just covered my face with my hands. "Oh man, I know where this is going"
High five!
