Design fair designjunction once again took over 120,000 sq. ft. of old warehouse space in central London, displaying all that is hot in furniture and object design with international brands, smaller cutting-edge labels and pop-up shops all getting in on the action.
With an unexpected twist on last year's format in MINI x Dezeen's take over of the entrance space, there was also of course plenty of the usual eye candy we've come to expect from this jewel in the London Design Festival crown across the three vast stories.
Fitting quite perfectly with the old industrial interior of the venue, design duo Soderlund Davidson took over a large portion of the ground floor with a clever never ending conveyor belt display for their ceramic creations.
We're were almost powerless to resist sprucing up our studios with sweet new stationary and geometric storage by Tom Pigeon (above) and Korridor Design (below).
Meanwhile upstairs, British manufacturers Anglepoise and Ercol took over an old office space with an installation entitled 'A Child's Dream'—17 UK designers reinterpreting the brands' classic desk lamp and chair design to enter into silent auction for charity.
We had a fascinating time learning about ancient craft and materials at the Studio Viatopia stand. Through material experimentation, the studio creates objects that consider alternative ways of making for a post-mass manufacturing society. The objects on show employed many ancient material-making techniques from across the globe that the Studio Viatopia has been researching.
South England design retailers Dyke & Dean had some lovely wares on display—these 'Splatterware' enamelwares and 'Grandad Edison' giant filament bulbs definetly catching our eye.
More interesting use of materials, New York-based designers AMMA Studio put on show their stool/coffee table 'Drums' made out of an interesting array of unexpected materials including rock salt (in both white and pink Himalayan, of course) coffee, sand and silica to create these unique objects.
Stay tuned for more from designjunction in London Design Festival photo gallery, coming soon.
