The MATERIALICA Design Award 2006 presents its winners in four categories: Material, Surface, Product and Student. We congratulate Helen Neumann, student at the FH Rosenheim School, who is awarded with her "Lamp AVD", a good example of how materials-driven design supports design freedom.
"Lampshades usually require a construction in addition to the light bulb. Due to the selected silicone material, the lamp AVD functions without such a construction as the light bulb cover is directly attached to the light bulb socket."
This October the winning works will be exhibited at MATERIALICA, the international trade fair for material applications, surface technology and product engineering.
