Patrick Faulwetter, Daniel Simon and Ian Hilton, designers at the Volkswagen Design Center in Santa Monica, have unveiled their latest concept car, the Nanospyder. Nanotechnology is the focus, supported by hydrogen fuel cells and solar power. The use of these future technologies combined with wheel-mounted electric motors and inflatable organic body panels are the drivers behind the strange aesthetic of the 2-seater car. The Nanospyder was created in response to the 'Design Los Angeles' conference, a challenge to design a vehicle that best suited California without imposing negative effects on the environment.
