RKS Design, developers and manufacturers of the RKS Wave guitar (among other things) is known for its implementation of 'psycho-aesthetics' in product design, but still needs a help when it comes to design iteration. Now, this is something I hadn't come across before (yeah, I've been a bit slack of late), so, I asked. Apparently, the Psycho-Aesthetics methodology (invented by RKS Design’s founder Ravi K. Sawhney) is currently being taught at the Harvard School of Business as a regular component in their curriculum and is the underlying foundation of the RKS Design philosophy -- the physical expression of a products' intention through its design. It is the allure of what beckons the user to interact, touch, enjoy, share, and feel like a "hero."
Well, while design methodologies are one thing, it seems that the team still need some technology to assist with the process and use OneSpace Designer Modeler (from CoCreate) which allows RKS rapidly iterate a design, and then engineer it into a manufacturable product.
"From our experience, the person who creates the most iterations of a design in the least amount of time, wins. That only comes from continual development, analysis, and redesign. The most successful programs are the ones that allow for that continual loop and learning as fast as you can. CoCreate's approach allows for the ever-present possibility of abrupt changes in a design project." Ravi K. Sawhney, Ph.D. and founder of RKS Design.
