Cranbrook's Scott Klinker on Developing Design Culture
I feel that the split between 'Industrial Design' and 'Design Culture' has become readily apparent. This is true especially in America as discussed. To an extent I think of Industrial Design and practical design and Design Culture as theoretical design. While yes, I understand that each is necessary especially for each to develop. I think that we have begun to value Industrial Design for it's uses in a business sense for growth and marketing. But Design Culture allows experimentation to develop new ideas and ways of thing that can and will shape and Industrial Design.
